The headstock.

The headstock is the part that holds the tuning machines.  It’s going to be made out of walnut to match the other parts.

It’s initially glued up using 4 pieces, leaving a slot down the middle:

Then the bottom is trued up on my 62 year old 6″ jointer, and then notched to accept the sides and the pilot holes for the tuners are drilled:

Now the headstock shape is cut out on the bandsaw, and then refined with the belt grinder:

Now the surfaces are sanded smooth:
